Lesley Anderson is a marketing consultant and LinkedIn specialist. She set up Hedgerow Marketing in 2011 after a career in sales and marketing. She works with clients to help them grow their brand online, using a full range of digital marketing strategies from website design to Google AdWords. LinkedIn is a particular specialism and she runs inhouse courses and coaching sessions to help clients use LinkedIn more effectively to generate business and grow their network of connections.
Heather is the Deputy CEO of Living Options Devon and has overseen delivery of the Heritage Ability project since its start in 2016. Heritage Ability is a National Lottery Heritage Funded project working with over 20 heritage sites across the South West to improve accessibility for disabled and Deaf visitors. In 2018 the project succeeded in winning a public for Best Heritage Project in the National Lottery Awards.
Thomas is an associate solicitor in the IP and IT team at Stephens Scown. Thomas works predominantly with national and international businesses. He also heads up the firms’ food and drink team, and has experience of working with a broad range of food and drink businesses, advising on their brand portfolios and consumer facing terms. Thomas is a director of nuBright, a joint venture business offering data protection and cyber security assistance. As an IP specialist, Thomas’ work includes advice on the creation and expansion of international trade mark portfolios; advising clients on legal frameworks for intellectual property exploitation such as licencing and franchising; planning and execution of intra-group IP restructures.
June is the General Manager at Haven’s Perran Sands and Riviere Sands holiday parks in Cornwall and has been in her position for fourteen years. Passionate about people and the environment, June has led the parks to achieve an array of prestigious awards, including the Platinum Investors in People Award 2017 and shortlisted in the top ten for Platinum Employer of the Year 2018.
With a career in tourism spanning 32 years, June has held many leadership roles and currently leads a team of over 500, encouraging them to deliver the best guest experience possible, whilst developing their skills and increasing bottom line.
June and her team have always focused on raising money for various charities which include Children in Need £80K over 4 years and over the past 2 years £18,000 for the RNLI, helping to save lives at sea.
Kate is the Joint Chief Executive of Cosmic, one of the leading social enterprises in the South West and recognised across the UK for its achievements and ongoing development. Kate is a girl geek having spent 20 years in the IT industry, many of which running a wholly female owned IT software business.
Kate specialises in Digital Futures and the strategic use of Digital to transform business processes. She is passionate about ensuring organisations use digital technology to improve productivity and thrive, particularly in the rural economy. Kate regularly delivers lectures across the UK and internationally on Digital Transformation.
Kate is a steering group member of the South West Cyber Security Cluster, Tech South West. She is a Co-opted Governor at Marjon University and South Devon College. Her previous career in Civil Engineering enabled her to work extensively in both the UK and overseas.
Kate has been shortlisted for the Women in IT awards, as IT Advocate of the Year, and received awards from Tech4Good, Social Enterprise UK and Venus awards. She has been listed on the WISE 100 2020 Index as Social Leader of the Year.
A Content Creator, Commercial Photographer and Visual Storyteller for brands - Claire got a 2,1 in Contemporary Practice of Art And Design and English at Leeds Metropolitan. After living on a small island in Cambodia for 5 years working for a charity, Claire decided it was time to move back to the UK. She started taking photos of the not so touristy places around London and ended up growing quite a large following.
Claire has always been a photographer but had to learn how to market herself from scratch and also how to grow and maintain an engaged following. She is now writing a fictional book and continues to work freelance predominantly with brands she has built established relationships with on Instagram.
Alex is the owner of Unique Devon Tours, a company that he set up seven years ago. Unique Devon Tours provides small group guided tours of Devon and beyond for discerning travellers from all over the World. Alex absolutely loves what he does – it’s his dream job in fact – and this shows in the awards and reviews that his company has received since starting up.
Alex is very passionate about Devon, and strives to put it on the map as a destination that no traveller should ignore during their lifetime. His company’s key target audience of North America doesn't stop him from trying to spread the word about Unique Devon Tours and Devon, as a destination, to all corners of the World.
Alistair Handyside owns Higher Wiscombe Holiday Cottages with his wife Lorna. The business is rated at Five Star Gold and has won numerous Green awards. Higher Wiscombe is also one of a small handful of tourism businesses to have won two National Gold Awards, for best Holiday Cottages and best Dog Friendly Business from Visit England, the National Tourist Board. Prior to establishing Higher Wiscombe in 2005, Alistair was a senior executive in IT for twenty-five years.
Alistair was instrumental in the successful establishment of PASC UK, the Professional Association of Self-Caterers, which focusses on a fairer regulation and taxation regime for the sector. He has recently negotiated a reduction in Business Rates for all English and Welsh self-caterers and leads the sector in the drive for all paid accommodation to be safe and legal.
Alistair is also active in lobbying for support for the wider tourism sector, he is a Director at the national Tourism Alliance, is Chairman of the East Devon AONB and was until recently Chair of the SW Tourism Alliance, Chair of Premier Cottages and Chair of the South West Coast Path.
Alistair was awarded and MBE in the June 2018 Queens Honours for his services to tourism.
Ellie is an experienced partner and heads up the HRExpress team at Stephens Scown. She believes that for businesses, having effective, specialist advice readily available is key to putting in place and retaining an engaged and settled workforce. She prides herself in giving focused, pragmatic advice which makes the running of businesses smoother and easier. Within her role she works with businesses on their day to day HR and employment practices as well as advising on reorganisations and business transfers. She also supports private individuals on the full spectrum of employment law including redundancy, departure situations and Settlement Agreements, capability issues and discrimination.
Helen is a Senior Marketing Consultant at Clockwork Marketing and a Chartered Marketer with many years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Specialising in strategy and planning, Helen’s work touches on everything from brand strategy, through to hands-on marketing implementation, revenue management and creative writing.
Bev and Sarah have built eat:Festivals to meet the needs of food and drink producers and communities who have lost their connection with the land. Nationally multi-award winning and driven to deliver a great return on investment for their producers, partners and 10 host towns.
They curate up to 140 local producers who are showcased in the town centre with demo stage, talks, cook school and entertainment. The focus is on presenting high quality producers and promoting the town (and it’s businesses) to an interested visitor profile that may have fallen out of love with their town centre. They regularly attract in excess of 20,000 to their one-day festivals, have a net promoter score of over 90% from their producers and a great reputation as top-class partners.
